CHUNKY GUN DESIGN

In my free time I work on a 3D animated film and build a Universe, and in this Universe there will be soldiers who will have these chunky guns. These are WIP screenshots of the current state.

I made one gun that everyone will use, and I needed to make something more or less generic, but at the same time that conveys some of my design taste.

Most of the time I do character work, and most often it was organic. Hard Surface for me was some big challenge that I really needed to overcome. Actually, ZBrush turned out to be this transition for me, when I stopped being afraid of Hard Surface, because ZBrush feels like it’s at your fingertips. Of course, the approach to Hard Surface is completely different, not like in other more traditional programs, but at the same time it gives me the ability to quickly get what I need. I think in our time that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t matter what tools you use, the main thing is to reach the destination, and to get there fast.
